Kardashian Divorce Now Six Times Longer Than Marriage

On Behalf of | Feb 5, 2013 | Divorce

Kim Kardashian married NBA player Kris Humphries in October of 2011, but the two are still embroiled in a bitter divorce battle almost a year and a half later. Kardashian is now expecting a child with her new boyfriend, rapper Kanye West, but still allegedly insists that her estranged spouse is liable for almost $250,000 in legal fees she has expended during the divorce process, which has now lasted six times longer than their 72 day marriage.

There have been many notable complex divorces over the years, but with no apparent end to the dispute in sight, this one may take the award for the longest divorce to marriage ratio. The high profile couple seems content to let the fighting continue, and their names still frequent tabloid headlines long after their ill-fated and questionable marriage has, for all practical purposes, ended.

Of course most people seeking a divorce in Maryland want nothing to do with such a long, drawn out process, and would much rather get a fresh start with their new lives rather than deal with the ongoing stress and acrimony of a contentious divorce.

While divorce does take time, especially when large assets are on the line, an attorney with experience in high net worth divorce can help simplify the process. Through the work of mediation and other forms of negotiation, couples can often end their marriage quickly and without unnecessary legal expense, even when the stakes are high.

From alimony and property division to child support, there are a lot of things to consider in a divorce, but with the guidance of counsel, divorcing spouses can reach an equitable agreement that accounts for all these factors without having to go through a contentious court battle.
